"Sunflowers" 13x9 Oil

My attempt at a split Complementary design.

Red-Violet, yellow, and green

I'm not sure if that's correct but close enough.

I was also trying to make the light travel up to the focal point which is the top flower. I had tons of fun painting this.

" Grandmother's Vase" 11x14 oil

This vase belonged to my great great grandmother. I actually enjoyed painting this. I thought it was going to be crazy to paint. I need to get a better photo of this under better lights. The flowers are looking washed out. Another thing on my to do list.

Something exciting happened this month. I had two paintings juried in for the "Something Hot" show at the Art Square in Leesburg. I believe 69 paintings were accepted out of 161 submitted. I guess I was very fortunate to have had two taken in. "Rooster" and "Dog On Grenada Beach".

"Mexican Teacups"
8"x8"

I found these old teacups at the thrift store and thought it would be fun to try and paint them. I used a Gallery Panel with 1 1/2" sides. I painted the sides black. No need for a frame.

"Self Portrait"

28"x22" Oil on Linen

This was the hardest painting I've done so far. I'm glad I used myself for this first one. I learned so much from painting it. I'm already planning my next one. It may take some time before I can start it. I would like to get a better lighting system for taking the original photo that I will be working from. My husband has volunteered for the next one.

Silver Teapot 12x16 Oil

I found this beautiful velvet ribbon at the fleamarket and kept trying to figure a way to incorporate it into a painting. I had this old teapot(or is it a coffeepot) and tried many different set-ups. I also wanted to have my five colors of red, yellow, blue, black and white. I decided to place a pair of scissors out of view but still show the reflection. That gave me a bit of yellow and I like the interest it gives.
